Dreamcards Launches August 19 — Build a Deck from Personal Relationships and Face the Monster Within

Relationships become cards, memories unfold through wordless illustrations, and the right combination can send the numbers spiraling out of control.

Guangzhou, China – July 27, 2026 – Brazilian indie studio Soneka Games and publisher Vsoo Games today announced that Dreamcards, a hand-drawn roguelike deckbuilder set inside the recurring dreams of its protagonist, will launch for PC via Steam on August 19, 2026.

The game follows a withdrawn protagonist known simply as Self. After avoiding their inner shadow for years, Self is tormented each night by the Monster Within—an ever-changing presence shaped by unresolved memories, guilt and relationships.
To regain control of the dream, players must build a deck from fragments of Self’s life and reach a Lucid Dream before the balance tips toward a Nightmare. The people Self remembers become Character cards, shared experiences become Actions, and each relationship introduces its own strategic possibilities. Each run unfolds across seven days and seven nights. Players begin by selecting a starting deck, revisit different relationships during the day, and put their evolving strategy to the test against the Monster Within at night.
Inspired by Jungian ideas such as the shadow, the self and archetypes, Dreamcards expresses its psychological themes through cards, imagery and mechanics rather than lengthy explanations. No knowledge of psychology is required to enter the dream—or to break its systems apart with an outrageous combination.

Build Until the Dream Breaks

Dreamcards is built around the moment every deckbuilder player is chasing: when a modest combination suddenly snowballs into an engine powerful enough to overwhelm the encounter.
Generate huge amounts of Mars, convert the surplus into other resources, recover part of what was spent and cycle through the deck to repeat the process. Chain Id cards to refill the hand, transform an expanding deck into Sun, or double Venus generation before converting a crowded board directly into victory. Jupiter-based cards can grow stronger every time they are performed, allowing their values to continue scaling throughout the dream.
With the right build, players may acquire every Ego card needed to win in a single turn, achieve a Lucid Dream without buying Ego cards at all, or continue drawing, converting and repeating actions until the numbers spiral completely out of control.
Standing in the way are inner demons that interfere directly with the deck rather than simply attacking a health bar. Their different forms and bad Cards can raise shop prices, reduce the opening hand, increase Action card costs, force cards to be forgotten or send newly acquired cards straight to the discard pile. Players must decide whether to adapt their strategy—or build something so powerful that the monster’s rules no longer matter.

Every Card Holds a Memory

Within the world of Dreamcards, every card has been handmade by Self as a way of revisiting and understanding the past.
Instead of conventional warriors, weapons and spells, the deck is built around Mother, Father, Best Friend, Lover, Sibling and Grandparent. They appear alongside cards inspired by hugs, arguments, family meals, inside jokes, storytelling, affection, bad habits and other recognizable moments from personal relationships.
Each relationship also supports a different style of play. Mother is associated with Moon and the shop economy, enabling strategies based on lower prices, rapid purchasing and deck expansion. Lover is tied to Venus and Permanence, supporting crowded boards that can eventually be converted into Sun. Other characters focus on drawing, discarding, resource conversion, scaling cards or generating enormous numbers of actions.
Choosing a relationship therefore changes both the deck’s strategy and the memories the player may discover.
These memories are presented entirely through hand-drawn illustrations, without dialogue, narration or explanatory text. Players are invited to interpret expressions, gestures, settings and small visual details for themselves, gradually forming their own understanding of Self and the people in their life.
Drawing inspiration from tarot imagery and Brazilian cordel literature, more than 200 hand-drawn illustrations and animations bring this world to life. Intimate scenes from Self’s past sit alongside symbolic figures, astrological motifs and unsettling dream imagery, allowing the visual style to move naturally between warmth, melancholy and psychological unease.
