NET.CRAWL 1.0 Launches – The Grid-Building Puzzle Roguelike Reaches Its Final Depth

A three-person indie team delivers the final Depth-3 layer to its innovative puzzle roguelike.

August 3, 2026 — It's time to dive deep into cyberspace. NET.CRAWL, the grid-building puzzle roguelike from three-person indie team Everyone is Solid, is now fully launched in 1.0 on Steam.

After four years of development and a six-month run in Early Access, the 1.0 update marks the moment when NET.CRAWL becomes structurally complete. The centerpiece of this milestone is the addition of Depth-3, a new final game layer with its toughest boss fight. With this addition, the total number of end-of-run bosses has grown from 4 at Early Access launch to 10 today.

“For us, 1.0 isn’t the end, it’s the moment when the game’s skeleton is fully in place,” said the developers. “Depth-3 and the final boss were the last major structural pieces. Now we can add more and build outward without the fear of compromising the integrity.”

A Fresh Take on the Roguelike Formula
NET.CRAWL reimagines deck-building strategy by replacing traditional cards with a spatial grid of hexagonal "nodes." Players navigate a post-human digital world as a White Rabbit, activating nodes by moving onto them to trigger effects, execute combos, and avoid being traced.

The game's heart lies in its encounters with unique mini-bosses called Cores, each presenting special abilities or victory conditions that demand a tailored strategic approach.

NET.CRAWL takes place in a post-human digital world filled with playful references to modern IT memes and concepts. Rather than focusing on hacking or corporate espionage, it presents a whimsical cybernetic fairyland where technological "magic" runs rampant.

What’s New in 1.0
The 1.0 release represents a 50% increase in overall gameplay content since the Early Access launch. Key additions include:

  • Depth-3 with the final boss fight, bringing the total number of end-of-run bosses to 10 (up from 4 at EA launch)
  • Game log window for better tracking of decisions and consequences
  • Full controller support for gamepad players
  • A dozen of new achievements
  • Quality-of-life features: Skin selection, run history, tooltip improvements

Critical Acclaim
Since its debut, NET.CRAWL has been praised by players for its fresh, innovative approach—adding a spatial element that fundamentally changes how strategy unfolds—as well as its creative level and boss design.

"It's like what people of my age imagined when they saw Hackers as kids."

"An endlessly charming and challenging roguelike puzzler... Deep build variety and potential make synergistic runs feel incredible."

"The battles... where each enemy has special rules that change how the game must be played... is a really cool way of handling combat."

The Road Ahead: 2.0 and Beyond
The self-funded team of three, working fully remote, plans to continue development until the project reaches the 2.0 stage. A public Trello roadmap outlines planned features across two large updates (1.5 and 2.0) - including Challenges (a new game mode for custom weird runs with game-breaking abilities) and the Turing Device (a special item that executes commands on demand following a queue).
