Wien, Austria –October 14, 2024– Independent development studio Doublesmith GmbH launches the demo of Morgenstern, a single and multiplayer rogue-lite hack-and-slay adventure,on Steam today in the context of the Steam Next Fest.
Morgenstern is an epic medieval journey where players explore handcrafted levels and dungeons, battling enemies and collecting treasures. Developed by a team with experience on Manhunt 2, No Rest For The Wicked, and Split Second, the game features an extraction system that adds tactical depth by balancing the risks of advancing or retreating.
The fully destructible environment contained in the final game will allow players to gather resources, set traps, and create new paths, making each run unique. Progression involves completing contracts and earning reputation, unlocking new weapons, spells, and abilities. Players will be able to craft and customize their builds to suit different playstyles, such as mage, rogue, or warrior.
In the multiplayer experience, players will be able to engage in cooperative modes with friends, compete in intense PvP battles, and face challenging AI encounters in PvE mode for skill building and resource gathering. Additionally, a unique "last chance" mechanic allows players to transform into a deadly pig when facing defeat, providing one final opportunity to escape with their loot.
