Monster Mercs Announced — A Chaotic, Build-Anything Fantasy Co-Op Action RPG From First-Time Indie Dev at 40

NASHVILLE, TN — (Date) — Monster Mercs is a new 1–4 player co-op action RPG that fuses the deep progression and build-crafting of classic fantasy MMOs with the high-octane, mission-based gameplay of Deep Rock Galactic and Helldivers. Designed for players who love making broken builds, experimenting with wild synergies, and diving into fast, repeatable missions with friends, Monster Mercs aims to bring an entirely new flavor of freedom to the co-op genre.

A Build-Anything RPG With No Classes, No Levels, and No Limits

In Monster Mercs, players aren’t locked into predefined archetypes. There are no classes and no levels—only stats, abilities, gear, and pure creativity. Build a heavy armor pyromancer, a rogue-like tank, a melee sorcerer, or something the world has never seen. If you can imagine it, you can try to break the game with it.

The world of Monster Mercs is designed to scale with you. Every mission adjusts to your character’s unique build and your squad’s collective capabilities, ensuring every run stays challenging and rewarding, no matter how unhinged your loadout becomes.

50+ Playable Monsters, Hundreds of Weapons and Spells, and Endless Combos

Become the beast—literally. Players can unlock and transform into more than 50 playable monsters, each with signature movement, attacks, and ultimate abilities. Combine them with hundreds of weapons, spells, augments, and transformation synergies to create devastating, absurd, or just plain hilarious combinations.

Hand-Crafted Worlds Meet Procedural Chaos

To keep every mission fresh, Monster Mercs blends hand-crafted layouts with procedural generation, offering structure when it matters and unpredictability when it’s fun. Whether you're infiltrating a cursed tomb, raiding a necromancer’s fortress, or fighting through fungal caverns, no two missions will feel the same.

A Personal Journey: From Basic Programming at 13 to Debut Indie Dev at 40

The game is developed by Adam Jaggers, a first-time indie developer at 40 who has been building games in some form since childhood.

“I wrote my first game at 13 in BASIC. Then life happened—I joined the U.S. Army, transitioned to corporate America, and eventually became CTO of an enterprise software company. But after surviving stage 3 cancer shortly after the birth of my son, I realized life is too short not to chase the things that light you up. Monster Mercs is me finally doing that.”

Jaggers brings two decades of engineering leadership, a lifelong love of RPGs, and a renewed sense of purpose to his debut title.
