Meanwhale Games introduces March to the Heart: a Risk-like deckbuilder set within a dying body

Game aims to provide accessible, bite-sized, tactical gameplay while honoring the classic tabletop war game.

Embargoed until June 26th, announcement day.

Meanwhale Games (Copenhagen, Denmark) announces they are developing March to the Heart to be released on Steam (Windows/Mac) in 2026.

"After playing the niche flash game Dice Wars over a whole summer, we realized that dudes-on-a-map type games could do with a sprinkle of deckbuilding roguelike sunshine" said Jonathan Skjøtt of Meanwhale Games. "With March to the Heart we want to honor iconic tabletop war games while applying the roguelike genre innovations of the last years. For example, in late 2024 we decided to get rid of dice entirely to focus instead on playing with cards and territories."

In the game players must excel in tactical, turn-based, territorial combat where cards are played to either develop territories or position forces. When not leading their immune system faction in combat they must strengthen their build and choose a path leading to the heart of the infected world.
