United States - July 5, 2026 - Quarantine Zombies, the Zombie Checkpoint Simulation game with heavy focus on narrative elements, exploration and survival in Zombie-infested Chicago releasing its biggest expansion yet – Contamination.
Unlike traditional checkpoint simulation games, Quarantine Zombies: Contamination leans heavily into a narratively driven campaign where players take up the role of the lone survivor of an evacuation checkpoint. During the course of 30 days, the main character must not just efficiently manage their post, but venture outside of it, expand their armory and repair their police pickup truck to be able to make it to a location within the infested city where their brother is trapped in time to save him.
The Contamination update is the biggest one yet. After the initial release in early 2026, Stones Games decided to take the players’ feedback seriously and pivot into a more distinct identity for the game. Contamination brings a whole arrangement of upgrades that are going to be available to all those who had already purchased the game free of charge.
New Key features include:

2. More than five new infection symptoms, with three new tools for inspection. The checkpoint simulation aspect is getting an expansion too. Inspect refugees’ ears, cause mild stress and sweating and check if their hair is real or not – some of them are going to try to sneak past you and bring the infection to outside world!
3. New and improved infected and refugees. The new update adds more variation to clothing and faces so the crowd feels more varied. New and improved voicelines are being added too.
4. Some game mechanics are getting a balance pass. Zombie raids, character movement, as well as gunplay and inspection tool access flow are being revamped to give players more opportunities to focus on expanding their gun inventory and repair the pickup truck.
5. With rebalanced character movement, Contamination is adding an all new QTE mechanic for shooting.
6. Full gamepad support for players who prefer to play with gamepads or Steam Deck has also received some polish.
Quarantine Zombies: Contamination update arrives to Steam on 5th of August 2026 and will be the biggest yet, free update to the game.
