A Work Simulation Built on Repetitive, Meaningless Tasks
LOW VALUE JOB is a dystopian work simulation centered around a single, monotonous task:
sorting scattered parts on a desk by type.
Bolts, nuts, washers—each varying slightly in size.
Left mixed together, they are inconvenient.
Your job is simply to pick them up one by one, examine them, and place them in the correct category.
That is all you do.
Two Modes of Labor: Solitude and Competition
In single-player mode, you can lose yourself in uninterrupted, solitary work. Your results are shared globally, and from time to time, cold notification sounds deliver numbers that quietly suggest the presence of someone, somewhere, doing the same work.
In contrast, online matches support up to eight players, where you compete with others around the world for speed and accuracy in parts classification. The rules are casual, yet hearing your opponents’ progress creates tension and urgency, forcing split-second decisions under pressure—reminding you that this is real competition.
When the intensity becomes overwhelming, return to solo work and rediscover the cathartic calm of working alone.
Exploring “Emptiness” and Invisible Labor
The core concept of LOW VALUE JOB is to confront the experience of immersing oneself in work that offers no clear meaning, while endlessly accumulating pointless results.
To express this idea, the game emphasizes loneliness and emptiness in single-player, and reactive, overstimulated tension in multiplayer—through both visuals and sound design.
The game seeks to recreate the peculiar calm and sense of growth that can emerge from repeating simple tasks over and over again.
