SAN FRANCISCO – FRIDAY, August 21, 2020 – Garena, a leading digital services and entertainment company, is celebrating the third anniversary of its popular mobile battle royale game with Garena Free Fire: 3volution. The multi-week in-game and community event culminates this weekend with the opening of the full remastered in-game Bermuda map, and major community streaming events.
Garena Free Fire: 3volution takes its players on a journey through the evolution of the game over the last first three years via its Time Tunnel game interface where players are collectively working to unlock very Free Fire milestone since Day 0. Players will receive prizes for every nod unlocked. Additional in-game events include:
- Hayato “Firebrand” awakening: Players can complete a mission to unlock a new skill for this popular hero character
- Bermuda remastered: New areas such as the new spawn island named “The Runway” are being revealed in the Bermuda map, with the full remastered map opening on Saturday, August 22
- Micro-events: There are several smaller events in the game happening daily, from a new character (Luqueta), to new items, pets, weapons, clothing, and log-in bonuses. You can find many of the events on the official Fire Fire Reddit.
Garena Free Fire:3volution has included external celebrations and activities, too, such as a Free Fire t-shirt design contest and streaming events. A North American “Community vs. the Pros” streaming event will kick off tonight – Friday, August 21 at 8 PM PST, challenging players to their luck against celebrities and pro players like Felicia Day. Garena will host a similar Latin America community event on Saturday.
The third anniversary comes as Garena recently announced a new record high in terms of peak daily active users of more than 100 million.. Free Fire also ranked third globally by downloads in the mobile games category in the second quarter of 2020, according to App Annie. Last month, Garena also announced its upcoming Free Fire cross-over event with the popular Spanish-English Netflix original series Money Heist, coming in September.
