TMA Games Announces Torment Hexus, a Cyberpunk Match-3 Roguelike

TMA Games is pleased to announce its next game, Torment Hexus: a cyberpunk match-3 roguelike with turn-based tactical combat. Battle the guards, climb the tower, and teach the CEO at the top what it means to move fast and break things.

"I started out trying to turn the classic game Puzzle Quest into a roguelike that could be played in 1-2 hours," said TMA Games' Chris Weisiger, "but got a little lost along the way." Torment Hexus also takes inspiration from the popular mobile game Puzzle & Dragons, as well as classic roguelikes Angband and Dungeonmans.

The result is a game with match-3 puzzling and magic spells, but set in dark warehouses and clinical labs, where you fight robotic war dogs, cybernetic chimpanzees, and corporate mages instead of giant spiders and dragons.
With its cyberpunk setting and CEO-defenestrating premise, Torment Hexus is not exactly subtle about its political position. Chris says "When corporations 'move fast and break things', what is being broken is people, and the reason they're moving quickly is to stay ahead of consequences. This game is about the danger of ignoring the damage done, and the anger of people who feel they have been used and cast aside."

TMA Games is a small independent game studio based near Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. It is owned and operated by Chris Weisiger, with help from his dog, Pavlov. Together, they make whatever games strike their fancy. Their past game, Waves of Steel, is a build-your-own-warship arcade naval combat game, where ships kickflip over torpedoes and paradrop from giant, nuclear-powered airplanes. For Torment Hexus, Chris has brought in Nicky Loom to write the game's story, Emunator for the music, Shoe for graphics, and many more!
