Prague, September 8th, 2025 — Keen Software House has released Apex Survival, a major new update for Space Engineers, now available on PC (Steam), Xbox, and PlayStation. This update marks the next chapter of Space Engineers, introducing long-awaited enhanced survival mechanics. Players can now experience food, farming, hunting, environmental hazards, meaningful death, and a brand-new buff system. All features are fully configurable, allowing the survival experience to be tuned from a demanding challenge to a more relaxed and creative approach.
Alongside the free update, the Apex Survival Pack DLC is available. This decorative pack adds lush greenery, detailed grow spaces, and new design variants, giving players the tools to create vibrant, lived-in bases.
Some time ago, we were approached by our friend (and long-time fan of Space Engineers) Dean Hall from RocketWerkz. We had several conversations about what survival means in Space Engineers, and how enhancing and expanding our survival gameplay could deliver a deeper and more immersive experience for our players.

Survival gains new depth with the introduction of farming and food production. Players can forage, hunt, and cultivate crops through Farm Plots, Algae Farms, and Irrigation Systems, while the Food Processor enables both meal preparation and seed harvesting. With these mechanics, resource management and long-term planning become essential parts of gameplay.
The dangers of space have been redefined. Radiation, extreme weather, and reworked meteor storms now present immediate threats to survival. A new system for respawning raises the stakes of death, while the survival buff system rewards players who manage to endure harsh conditions without losing their lives.
Exploration also feels revitalized with thirty brand-new Random Encounters, replacing all legacy encounters. These handcrafted scenarios bring fresh opportunities for discovery, storytelling, and unexpected challenges, ensuring that every encounter feels unique and purposeful.
The Apex Survival Pack DLC is available alongside the free update, offering a variety of blocks for base-building, from lush greenery and detailed grow spaces to new design variants, enabling players to craft immersive habitats fit for true space survivors.

During this limited-time event, Strong Unknown Signals offer even greater opportunities to unlock the rarest skins in the game.
