Indie Jam 2025 Serves Up 35+ ASEAN Made Indie Games This 26-27 April

THE MAGIC RAIN is excited to present the third edition of Indie Jam, a free-entry ASEAN independent games showcase and mini conference dedicated to celebrating and growing the indie game development scene in Malaysia and beyond.

Returning to Xsolla Curine Academy on 26th and 27th April 2025, the annual event is an ongoing initiative to raise awareness for regionally made indie games, and provide more platforms to introduce them to gamers and non-gamers alike. The event has elevated over 50 games in its two year run, and reached more than 3,000 participants each year.

This year’s edition will showcase over 35 game demos across Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Philippines, and Thailand, including student projects from University of Wollongong Malaysia, DigiPen Malaysia, Asia Pacific University, and Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman.

The First IGDA Mentor Cafe in Asia

The International Game Developers Association (IGDA) Global will be bringing its signature Mentor Café to Indie Jam 2025! Happening at Xsolla Curine Academy on 26th April (Saturday), the event will make history as the first IGDA Mentor Café to be held in Asia.

The IGDA Mentor Café is designed to help industry professionals around the world support one another and learn skills to progress their careers. The networking event presents a great opportunity for mentees to receive advice from experts in their field, and for mentors to build relationships with the next generation of game developers.

Registration is open now, while spots last.

Student Game Jam Puts The Vote In The Public’s Hands

Indie Jam activities begin every year with a Student Game Jam designed to provide up-and-coming game developers the opportunity to hone their game development and soft skills. Winners are scored based on a mixture of judges' scoring and public voting during the main event.

Attendees can contribute to the public vote by visiting the Student Game Jam area and playing the games on display. The winning team walks away with up to RM60,000 worth in scholarships sponsored by Xsolla Curine Academy.

Registration is open now to all students and fresh graduates, while spots last.

Industry Talks From Speakers Across The Region

Throughout the weekend, aspiring game developers and gaming enthusiasts can also attend knowledge sharing sessions hosted by industry veterans across the region. Some of the speakers this year include Critical Reflex, Toge Productions, Neon Doctrine, Passion Republic, Springloaded Games, University of Wollongong Malaysia, and more to come.

An Upgraded Indie Jam Online Showcase

The festivities don’t end after Indie Jam weekend is over! In partnership with SEAGamethetic, attendees can watch Indie Jam Direct, a special recap of the showcase online, then wishlist the participating games on the official Steam or Itch.io page from 19th April to 11th May.

For a closer look at the games in the showcase, After Jam returns in collaboration with The Cham Drinkers, Neon Doctrine, and Soft Source Publishing. From 28th April to 4th May, tune in to a week of livestreams from ASEAN content creators featuring games from the Indie Jam 2025 showcase!

Most importantly, Indie Jam is a community-driven event that maintains its tradition of keeping barriers to entry as low as possible. All the content throughout the weekend is accessible to all attendees and completely free-of-charge, so don’t miss this chance to meet and mingle with likeminded gamers.
