Forum Mortuorum, a Gladiator Management Sim, Launches Demo

Cambridge, MA: This past Sunday, Vittoria Games launched a free demo - available now - for Forum Mortuorum on Steam. The demo makes you the owner of a Roman gladiator school, equipping and training your gladiators in a sports-management style game where your players can and will die, permanently.

The demo runs you through 15 matches - about 45 minutes of gameplay. That's just enough to make it to the top of the current skill and equipment tree before a difficult final challenge match. The demo presently runs on Windows with Linux support to follow soon.

Though a compact, fun miniature management sim in its own right, the demo is only a shadow of what Vittoria Games promises for the future. Both the demo and the final game will benefit from upcoming features including:

  • New and challenging match types including fights against mythical beasts
  • Deeper outfitting of gladiator's kit of innate talents, trained skills, and equipment
  • Upgrades to the school facilities and staff
  • A narrative arc delivered by both ordinary Romans and eclectic characters including a suspicious taxidermist, an inhuman alchemist, and an exotic zoologist

This new content will be delivered to the demo over the course of the next year until the release of the full game. The release is tentatively planned for Q3 2024, but will shift later if necessary for the game to launch with all the polish players deserve.

Vittoria Games is the nom-de-plume of Nick Francisci. Founded in 2022, its debut release - Forum Mortuorum - portends a specialization in management and strategy games. For more on their plans and prototypes, head to vittoriagames.com.
