Set sail for an exciting and challenging adventure in Beacon Patrol, the clever cooperative tile-laying exploration game!
Take on the role of captain of the Coast Guard, building and navigating the beautiful coastline of the North Sea. As you patrol the waters, you work together with other players to secure beacon buoys, lighthouses, and vital waterways, ensuring safe passage for all who traverse the sea.
Each tile you place expands your map, uncovering new routes and creating a network of coastal paths. Strategic teamwork is key — plan your moves with your fellow captains, adapt to the ever-changing seas, and piece together the most complete and efficient map possible. Alternatively, you can tackle the winding waterways solo with just the seagulls for company and plan your own adventure.
Easy to learn but delightfully tricky to master, Beacon Patrol started life as a much-loved board game by Torben Ratzlaff in 2022 before going digital. Described as Carcassonne by the sea, it’s perfect for anyone who enjoys slow-paced strategy that often leaves you scratching your head. The game offers solo and multiplayer modes, including online co-op via Steam Remote Play Together. It features multiple game modes such as Board Game Mode, Exploration Mode, and Creative Mode, as well as unlockable ships, tiles, seagull companions and more. Each ship has unique skills.

Shapes and Dreams is the solo studio of Torben Ratzlaff, designer, artist, and license holder of the board game Beacon Patrol, which was originally released in 2022 and later published by Pandasaurus Games. BrutalHack is the development label of Benjamin Justice, specializing in strategic video games that emphasize planning and tactics over reflex-based gameplay. While often turn-based, BrutalHack’s titles are united by their thoughtful, strategy-focused design. After meeting through the IndieTreff e.V. community, the pair began working on the digital adaptation of Beacon Patrol in October 2022. The result is a faithful yet enhanced version of the board game, expanded with new features and designed to offer a relaxing, cooperative gameplay experience.
