Venba is inspired by immigrant families and communities in Toronto. A lot of stories about immigrant families focus on the kids, and Team Visai wanted to shift the spotlight onto the parents. Food truly ties these families to their homelands and keeps their culture alive, wherever they are located. It is a huge theme in this game, so the developers did extensive research, including consulting local chefs to get the recipes right. The recipes in Venba are based on food from the Southern area of India, and represent just a slice of Indian cuisine.
Team Visai is a small team with diverse backgrounds and experiences, and they hope Venba resonates with everyone who plays it, regardless of their cultural background.
