Ticket to Ride®: Heart of Africa Expansion Goes Digital for the First Time!

Players must learn to strategically place routes across various terrains for optimal point scoring in the latest expansion.

[MARMALADE GAME STUDIO — 20/08/2025] – Following a community vote, Marmalade Game Studio has launched a highly requested new expansion for the digital version of Ticket to Ride – Heart of Africa! 

Following the Ticket to Ride: Japan Expansion, Ticket to Ride: Heart of Africa Expansion is the second map to be reimagined in digital form for the first time. Players will experience new gameplay mechanics in Heart of Africa, including the point-boosting Terrain cards. 

Terrain cards match the various route terrains on the Heart of Africa map: 

  • Desert & Savanna – for yellow, orange and red routes 

  • Jungle & Forest – for purple, blue and green routes

  • Mountain & Cliff – for white, grey and black routes 

When claiming a route with Train Car cards, players can also use Terrain cards to double the points earned from that route. For one-, two- and three-length routes, only one Terrain card is needed; for four-, five- and six-length routes, two Terrain cards are needed. 

The catch? In order to use Terrain cards on a route, players must have at least as many of that type of Terrain card as any other player in the game. 

Joining Ticket to Ride fans on their next adventure are two new characters. Players will also receive two new vehicles and two additional carriages to play on any map they own.

The Heart of Africa Expansion is available to download on the Apple App Store, Google Play Store, PlayStation, XboxSteam, and Nintendo Switch!
