It’s hard to imagine what The Witcher franchise would sound like today without Geralt’s brooding tone; however, Cockle opened up about how his career-defining role was almost brought to an end after CD Projekt Red started work on The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings. “Between Witcher 1 and Witcher 2, CD Projekt Red decided to change things up…most of the characters were recast including Geralt…. I called them and said, ‘Hey, I’d like to throw my hat in the ring again.' That call changed my career.” He goes on to describe some of the stress and fear of acting, and the feeling that even with hit roles, you could easily be replaced, but went on to share that after 20 years, Geralt really feels like a “part of him” now.
