“The Anime Lovechild between Silent Hill and Twin Peaks” – Indie Studio Announces Psychological Horror Visual Novel Scored by Industry Veteran

Helsinki, Finland – December 3, 2025 – Indie developer Studio Grail unveils Grave Regrets, a dark and twisted visual novel that fuses psychological horror and surreal detective mystery with a Japanese anime aesthetic. Described by the developer as “the lovechild between Silent Hill and Twin Peaks but make it a visual novel,” Grave Regrets offers a unique blend of eerie atmosphere, mature narrative, and a haunting melody by renowned Japanese composer Yoh Ohyama.

The title and Steam page went live today, alongside the game’s trailer on IGN Game Trailers.

Grave Regrets lays out a disturbing mystery surrounding grief and fragile relationships, exploring themes such as justice, guilt, and obsession. Players will navigate an interactive narrative filled with branching choices and multiple endings, but with tight, fluff-free writing.

Adding to the game’s mood is an original soundtrack composed by Yoh Ohyama, an industry veteran from acclaimed ZIZZ STUDIO, known for their exceptional work in anime and visual novel soundtracks such as Saya no Uta (another major inspiration behind Grave Regrets), and Demonbane. More recently, Ohyama has also worked as recording engineer on Silent Hill f, and music director for Dolls Nest.

The game will be launching on PC, macOS, and Linux (release date TBA), primarily in English, with potential Japanese localization based on future Kickstarter success.
