Cologne, Germany, May 28th, 2025 – Solo developer Sword & Quill has announced the studio’s first title. Soulblaze is a 2D single-player roguelite with turn-based combat featuring dice mechanics inspired by tabletop RPGs like Dungeons & Dragons and Savage Worlds. A first Demo was released on February 7th 2025 with an updated version announced for the upcoming Steam Next Fest (June 9th to 16th). A public alpha version has been available on Itch.io since early development and receives regular updates. The game is being developed in Godot and is playable on Windows, macOS, Linux, and Steam Deck.
You play as the Animancer Sadia, a mage able to bind Animons. Determined to fight the corrupted monsters and bring back her wife, Sadia must unlock the secret of the mysterious phenomenon called Soulblaze and reach the alien source of the Animons: the Observer.
Soulblaze is planned to release in Early Access in Q3 2025 on Steam and Itch.io for $14.99, in English and German.
