Nutty Putty—the infamous Utah cave permanently closed after a tragic 2009 accident—has now reopened in VR. Available as a free update for the spelunking game Cave Crave on Meta Quest, it will soon arrive on PSVR2 and SteamVR as well.
Meticulous, sensitive restoration
Using the official cave map, additional data from rescuer Brandon Kowallis, and other publicly available documentation, the 3R Games team has recreated Nutty Putty with expert-level realism. Rather than gamifying the tragedy, this digital restoration gives players a respectful, authentic way to explore a site that can no longer be visited in real life.
