Global game publisher CFK (headed by Chang-sig Koo) is proud to use today (2/6) to introduce the main characters and features of the Nintendo Switch™ version of Ninja Issen, the new lightning-fast hyper ninja action game set to release on February 20th (Thursday).
Ninja Issen (忍者一閃) is a hyper ninja action game developed by Korean indie dev Asteroid-J, embodying the lightning-fast hyper ninja action genre. With its cyberpunk future city atmosphere set within a retro graphics filter, Ninja Issen features one-against-many nimble ninja action, where players feel the pleasure of wiping out waves of enemies with a single stroke of their blades and fending off bosses that block their way forward with non-stop attacks and various movement patterns, all while making use of the ninja skills at their disposal.
In particular, Ninja Issen’s intuitive feel and variety of playable content carry several elements that will appeal to the Nintendo Switch™ player base. It will be a great pickup for players looking for a unique style of action game.
Ninja Issen tells the story of Kiba, the top ninja in his clan who was framed for the murder of his clan leader. His clan immediately labels him a traitor assassin, sentencing him to be killed and bringing him to death’s door during their pursuit. However, with help from his new friend, Kiba is reborn as a powerful hyper ninja, embarking on a journey for revenge in order to set things right and clear his name.

- Experience extreme speeds and thrilling ninja action!
Players step into the shoes of Kiba, moving between enemies with flashy attacks and skills without pause. Using the agile movement of the ninja, they can feel the speed and thrill of utterly dominating the battlefield.
On top of that, the bosses will put Kiba’s abilities to the test with their overwhelming firepower and unique attacks. Players will have to make use of Kiba’s ninja abilities to stand up to the onslaught of the bosses.
- Create your own fighting style! Put Kiba’s weapons and skills to the test!
Players will have to make use of their full arsenal if they wish to survive these one-on-many battles. A diverse roster of enemies awaits Kiba, and no place is truly safe from their attacks.
As a seasoned ninja, Kiba must make use of all of his weapons and abilities to make it through each stage. Combine various weapons and abilities to make a fighting style just for you.
1) Main weapons
- Katana: Kiba’s main weapon, displaying great might in close combat.
- Shuriken: A long-ranged attack that deflects enemy bullets.
2) Main combat skills and abilities
- Issen: A skill that slices every which way, cutting down everything that stands in Kiba’s path. Embodies the pleasure of the killing blow.
- Teleport: Teleport to Kiba’s target with a throw of his katana. With this, Kiba can jump between tall buildings and escape traps like a true ninja.
- Fire Circle (炎): Summon a rotating circle of flames that burns anything it touches.
- Phantom (影): Kiba’s body becomes one with the shadows, turning invincible for a set amount of time.
- Break through the weak points amid the overwhelming might of these Boss Battles!
Bosses armed with their own unique attack patterns wait for the player within each stage. As each boss hits a certain level of HP, it’s thrown into a new phase where stronger attacks await.
Players will have to see through the boss attack patterns, find their weaknesses, and fight back. Some bosses have destructible body parts, which will switch up boss attack patterns if blown off.
- Hardcore mode: Test your limit to the extreme!
Hardcore mode is a multifaceted addition to the game that focuses on gaining the highest scores by providing pure gameplay without story and cutscenes. This game mode will automatically unlock after clearing the game one time.
In particular, this game mode makes enemy attacks more dangerous, and a single death means game over. Players will go straight through from chapter 1 to chapter 9 with only a timer and a single life, gaining a higher score from their clear time, their highest combos, and their remaining life.
To achieve that highest score, players can also finely adjust their starting points within each chapter to enjoy hardcore mode at different tempos. As this is a shot at the highest score in a single attempt, the retry option in the pause menu will be unselectable.

Unlike normal action games that throw everything at the player at once, the Nintendo Switch™ Ninja Issen release was designed to gradually increase the difficulty of the game while teaching players through tutorials. Most mid-stage bosses also show their current health bars, allowing players to get a more intuitive understanding of mechanics as they play through the game.
