Indolent Games confirms it is definitely not releasing CliveWareGOLD on 29th February 2026

A free “lore drop” download from the world of Clive is a Good Guy - recovered, unstable, and proudly out of calendar sync

Manchester, UK – 24th February 2026 - Indolent Games today confirmed that CliveWareGOLD will not be released on 29th February 2026 - because that date does not exist, and because CliveWareGOLD should not exist.

This announcement is the development studio’s first public “non-date” for the release of CliveWareGOLD - a standalone, free interactive artefact from the world of Clive is a Good Guy, styled like a corrupted 90s WAREZ-era promo disc and built to feel like you’ve found something you were never meant to run.

CliveWareGOLD presents itself as an unstable early build - STRANGERSHELL_BOOTLOADER v0.9b - scraped from a corrupted backup during pre-release testing. Access is “provisional, possibly even irrational”. Players should expect memory bleed, identity echoes, and at least one interactive pigeon.

What is CliveWareGOLD?
A standalone lore drop - part digital lore packet, part glitchy throwback - CliveWareGOLD is designed as an entry point into the wider Clive is a Good Guy universe: a man unravelling across multiple personas and timelines, with the fiction leaking through UI, files, fragments and strange little systems. (It installs cleanly via Steam/Itch - the ‘unstable’ part is narrative, not malware.)

What’s inside
CliveWareGOLD includes:

  • Short film: Tinker Tailor Stranger Self - a fractured reflection of Clive’s psyche, presented as a missing reel that refuses to stay buried
  • Trailer, timeline and lore map for the upcoming FMV title Clive is a Good Guy
  • Meet the Personas - featuring nine alter-egos played by Neil Bell (Dune Part One, Star Wars: Andor, Peaky Blinders), with the option to use the in-game score or your own MP3s
  • Pigeon Letters - Act 1 - an interactive fiction Easter egg with voting, endings, and hidden codes that echo forward
  • Digital detritus - cryptic files, oddities, and secrets. Not a menu - a minefield
  • Codes - to hidden sections and easter eggs in CliveWareGOLD and to restricted content in Clive is a Good Guy.

A statement from Indolent Games
“We’re delighted to confirm that CliveWareGOLD is not launching on 29th February 2026. We considered it - it’s the perfect date for a recovered build that shouldn’t exist. Unfortunately, the Gregorian calendar refused to collaborate. So we’re announcing the non-date now, before anyone else does.”

Availability
CliveWareGOLD will be free on Steam and itch.io. Actual release of CliveWareGOLD will be at 23:59 GMT on Saturday 28th February 2026.

Notes to editors
  • CliveWareGOLD is positioned as a standalone “lore drop” from the world of Clive is a Good Guy, built as a deliberately unstable digital artefact.
  • Tone and comps sit in the space of cursed media, metafictional unravelling, and interface-led storytelling (think Hypnospace Outlaw, Doki Doki Literature Club, Stories Untold).
  • Safe to stream + monetise.
