Press Release -
Today, we’re announcing the the closed beta launch of Fiero. Fiero is the world’s first truly zero-code game engine that will soon be available on a developer-friendly simple subscription pricing model (SaaS) to indie developers and studios.
About Fiero Studio
Frustrated by the poor usability and high friction of existing game development engines, Fiero was founded in 2022 by two UK-based industry veterans with a vision of creating great games without writing a single line of code, letting everyone's creativity truly lead the game creation process.
The Fiero game engine is currently available as a free closed beta for game developers and studios looking to try out a totally new way to create video games. Interested parties can sign up for access at https://fierogameengine.com/
As an entertainment medium, video games are now bigger than film and music combined, in part thanks to casual mobile gaming accounting for more than half of the total revenue of the gaming market (Gamerhub). However, building any new video game today regardless of platform is still a very time-consuming, expensive and risky endeavour for game studios of all shapes and sizes. There are three aspects needed to bring any kind of game to life:
-
A compelling vision for a new game and gameplay experience
-
Having the technical skills needed to bring that game to life
-
Investing significant time and/or money with unpredictable returns
We see no shortage of unique visions for new games from aspiring budding game creators, however the technical barrier to entry and financial risk of developing games hinders new developers from creating their vision, while keeping the risk high for established indie studios alike.
So, when any of the handful of established game development engines engage in aggressive commercials, developers are forced to either stick with their game development tech stacks and take a bigger hit if they are successful, or invest more in developing new technical skills and processes. It’s no wonder why there has been so much public outcry in response to Unity, one of the most popular game engines, recent update to their commercial terms for developers and studios (Gamespot).
Our goal is to help developers create more games, better games, faster than ever before through smarter, simpler tools leveraging the best of web technology today to speed up workflows, development cycles and testing. We want to see a world where expensive technical skills and commercial uncertainty don’t stand in the way of someone bringing their dream games to life.
