Fast-Paced Roguelike RTS Fleetbreakers Gets New Gameplay Trailer And Updated Steam Demo

The newest game from the developers of Age of Empire and Halo Wars is set to launch in Q1 2026, with a revamped playable demo already available on Steam!

Allen, TX, October 7, 2025 - The full team at Last Keep is eager to unveil a brand new trailer for their fast-paced roguelite RTS Fleetbreakers (previously Project Citadel), alongside an updated playable demo already available on Steam.

WATCH THE TRAILER HERE

Developed by industry veterans Dave Pottinger (Age of Empire, Age of Mythology), Jason Sallenbach (Halo Wars, Rage 2), and Yohan Sengamalay (Halo 3, Alan Wake), Fleetbreakers combines the depth of strategic fleet management with the turmoil of fast-paced roguelike combat - in an experience that aims to condense the essence of RTS royalty into quick, rewarding, adrenaline-fueled charges through hostile space.

A young leader in a fledgling rebel faction, you’ll take up arms against the Voltari - the evil empire that controls the galaxy. You will have full control of the campaign, strategically evaluating and planning your next move through a galaxy-wide Starmap. Choose where to build your next colonies, who to target next, and how to handle specific sector-wide events. Each of your choices has a direct impact on how the war unfolds, as the enemy reacts to your choices and tries to exploit your weaknesses to crush the rebellion.

Of course, planning is only half the battle. Once the course is set, assemble your fleet from a pool of different ships - each with their unique abilities and roles - and take the fight directly to the Voltari through an array of procedurally generated scenarios where each encounter is unique. Use your mothership to establish a presence and build new stations, then call in reinforcements to beat the enemies back as you reclaim the galaxy sector by sector. Control your squadrons from the frontline, explore the depths of space, meet an eclectic cast of characters, and discover new technologies as you adapt your approach to tackle more demanding challenges.

Originally slated for 2025, Fleetbreakers is now scheduled to launch into Early Access in Q1 2026, with more details about the release of the game to be announced over the next few months. In the meantime, players are already able to try an updated version of the game’s demo on Steam. “Fleetbreakers is a bit of a return to our roots as well as an opportunity to bring something fresh and new to the strategy genre” said Last Keep CEO Dave Pottinger speaking on the project and its development. “RTS games are having a resurgence and now is a great time to show a new generation why we love them so much.”
