DISCOUNTY DEMO OPENS FOR BUSINESS TODAY; FULL STORE GRAND OPENING IS AUGUST 21

Welcome to Blomkest, where the savings are sweet, the locals are sweeter, and the small-town gossip moves faster than the price scanner.

London, UK – June 7, 2025 – Grab an apron and prep that “checkout face” because it’s time to clock in. A brand-new playable demo for Discounty, the delightfully quirky supermarket management adventure, is hitting Steam today. The demo gives players a condensed sample of approximately 45 minutes of the first act. The full game opens its automatic doors to players everywhere on August 21.

The demo trailer can be seen here: https://youtu.be/3Iui3JRitWQ

Set in the scenic harbor town of Blomkest, Discounty puts players in charge of the local supermarket their aunt has (perhaps recklessly) left in their hands. They’ll be charged with designing the dream store layout, negotiating spicy trade deals, restocking shelves before Ms. Andersen notices the milk’s out, and trying to keep the peace with a cast of lovable – and occasionally nosy – townsfolk.

In this cozy-but-lively business sim, players will grow their humble grocery into a retail empire... but the bigger the store gets, the more the cracks begin to show in the community around it.

“We wanted to blend a cozy life sim game with satisfying management, and a hearty dash of satire on top,” said Ian Stewart, Communications Director at Crinkle Cut Games. “The demo gives players a first taste of Blomkest’s charm - and a hint at the drama yet to come.”

DEMO FEATURES INCLUDE:

  • Guided Tutorial for New Managers: A friendly, step-by-step tutorial helps players settle into their new role as Blomkest’s newest shopkeeper – no retail experience required.
  • Hands-On Store Management: Players can stock shelves, run the register, and make the hard decisions (like whether to carry Lard and Lean ground beef).
  • Build Community Ties: Players will meet the locals, strike trade deals, and expand their business, or at least try to without completely disrupting the town’s delicate balance (their aunt swears it was all simpler before they showed up).
  • Custom Shop Layouts: Stores can be redesigned to optimize flow, or just to look like a giant smiley face. No judgment.
  • Business vs. Belonging: As the store grows, players will need to navigate the tension between personal profit and community impact, because Blomkest doesn’t forget.

The full version of Discounty launches digitally for PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, Xbox X|S, and Steam, as well as physically for PS5 and Switch on August 21. Until then, you can get your feet wet (and your shelves stocked) with the free demo available today.
