IRVINE, Calif. – August 4, 2025 – During EVO Vegas 2025, SEGA® announced Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O. World Stage will launch digitally for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S on October 30, 2025, featuring cross-play, rollback support, key improvements to the training mode, and a newly-revealed single player World Stage mode! The game will also release for Nintendo Switch™ 2 at a later date, so please stay tuned.
Those interested in trying out the game ahead of launch can sign up for a chance to participate in the closed beta test planned for early September for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Steam. For PS5 and Xbox Series players, you will need to register for a SEGA Account, which you can do so here: https://sega-account.com/. By participating in the closed beta, you will be able to receive a special in-game title!
Embark on Your Own Journey in “World Stage”
A brand-new single-player mode, “World Stage,” is coming to the game as part of a free update! Here, players will challenge powerful rivals on a solo quest to become the ultimate fighter, unlocking customisation items along the way.
Until then, from now until August 23, SEGA will be accepting user submissions for player names that will appear in World Stage mode! Fans can read up on the guidelines and submit their ideas starting today by joining the official Virtua Fighter Discord server.
Dural Steps into the Ring
For the first time since Final Showdown, the enigmatic Virtua Fighter™ series antagonist Dural will be added to the game’s roster as a playable character*! This paid DLC will be made available when the game launches on October 30th.
*Please note Dural cannot be used in official SEGA tournaments such as the "Virtua Fighter Open Championship."

Pre-order either edition of Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O. World Stage and receive the Sega Hardware Customization Item “Genesis,” based on the legendary SEGA hardware*! This item can be equipped by all 19 base characters in the game.

Information on DLC transfer for Virtua Fighter 5 Ultimate Showdown Owners on PS4
Those who own the PlayStation 4 version of Virtua Fighter 5 Ultimate Showdown – either through a previous purchase on PSN or as a redemption via PlayStation Plus – will be able to purchase the PlayStation 5 version of Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O. World Stage for a discount of £7.99.
Players who decide to upgrade to the PS5 version can take advantage of all the great benefits this latest iteration has to offer, including planned cross-play support, rollback support, training mode improvements and the new World Stage mode! All existing DLC tied to the user’s PSN account for Ultimate Showdown will also carry over at no additional cost.
Free Upgrade for Steam Users to “Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O. World Stage”
Starting October 30, current owners of the Steam version of Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O. will be automatically upgraded to Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O. World Stage at no added cost. This will not have any impact on the content that current owners already have access to.
