VRocker, an activity inducing movement app releases on Steam

“VRocker” by DitigalSoulVR aims to keep gamers physically active during the pandemic lockdown and to decrease VR motion sickness without the requirement of any additional gadgets.

London, United Kingdom, June 18th, 2020. DigitalSoulVR announces releasing a movement app, VRocker, on Steam today with the objective to increase physical activity and immersion in VR games as well as decreasing VR motion sickness issues.

With the wide array of options that VRocker offers, you can select suitable settings for you and your game of choice in your Steam library. If you’re looking for staying physically active during the pandemic lockdown, you can choose to do squats or lunges to move around the game world. If you don’t feel like sweating, you can just sway in one place and take it easy instead. Whatever you choose, VRocker makes any SteamVR game with a joystick/pad “smooth locomotion” all the more immersible without requiring any extra gadgets.

“This felt like the right time to release VRocker, as people are staying indoors and many are struggling to keep up their physical health,” says Cem Mustafa, the founder of DigitalSoulVR, “I believe that with VRocker you can stay fit while having fun, for example by playing Half-life: Alyx, which works great with the app.”

The beta and early access users have reported increased immersion in games. With the body movements that imitate walking, it feels like you’re actually walking in the game world rather than just sliding through it using a joystick. Also, this presumably helps to decrease the infamous VR motion sickness that some players experience while playing VR games. The majority of the testers who had suffered from VR motion sickness before reported some degree of decrease in motion sickness and more pleasant gaming experience in comparison to smooth locomotion.
