Queenright: A Beekeeping Simulator announced for PC, built on real bee science

Open living hives, find the queen, count mites and raise your own queens in a beekeeping simulator made by a PhD who studies bees. Coming soon to Steam.

Esoteric Games today announced Queenright: A Beekeeping Simulator, coming soon to Steam for PC. The announcement trailer is out now.

Queenright is built on how honey bee colonies really live. Every hive runs on real bee biology, day by day, and the colony model is checked against extension references and standard beekeeping texts. Nothing is scripted: a colony that isn't treated for Varroa mites by late August heads into winter with damaged bees, just as a real one would.

Players light the smoker, lift frames with thousands of living bees on them, read the brood, and find and mark their queen. They count mites with a sugar roll, choose from five treatments modeled on real ones, spot the signs of a coming swarm, split colonies, graft their own queens and bring in the honey across four seasons. The game is cozy by default, with eight realism switches for players who want as much real-world beekeeping as they like.

Queenright is made by a PhD who studies bees and keeps them.
