GAME AUDIO EXPERTS UNITE TO CREATE REVROOMS, A UNIQUELY INTEGRATED AUDIO STUDIO

Brighton, 28th September, 2021

Three accomplished industry pros from different audio disciplines have formed Rev Rooms, a game sound studio dedicated to providing fully integrated audio solutions to game developers worldwide.

Andy Gibson brings over 20 years of game audio experience on AAA and indie titles. Gwen Raymond has a decade of programming for the likes of Creative Assembly, The Chinese Room and Electric Square under her belt, whilst Gavin Shepherd spent 15 years working in the movie industry working for Pixar, Disney and Lucasfilm.

The three leads are joined by an array of senior talent who have worked for companies including Microsoft, Disney, Pinewood Studios, Natural Motion and Sony. As well as TV and movies, the team has worked on an eclectic collection of games from Total War, Lego Star Wars, Peaky Blinders and Forza Street.

Based in Brighton, the studio will also be a hotbed of new talent and work closely with the town's Waterbear College of Music. They have lectured at New Bucks University and Breda University, created game audio modules at BIMM and presented a Wwise Master class at The European Academy of Fine Arts.

"We have been so fortunate to bring such a strong team together at Rev Rooms," said Andy Gibson, Audio Director. "With the vast raft of experience we have within the team, we have a unique proposition: not only in crafting enthralling in-game sound but also in making that work seamlessly with the rest of the game. We work with Wwise, FMOD, Unity, Unreal, Lumberyard, and a host of bespoke engines.

We have all worked in small and large studios and know how important it is for outsourcing companies to become as much a part of the development team as possible, delivering integrated audio without pain or friction".

Gav Shepherd added, "When I moved from movies back to games, I was curious to see how game audio had evolved. I found a vibrant community of creative and technical problem solvers who are more collaborative, way more inventive and passionate about their work. RevRooms plan to bottle this ethos and take it to new heights."

Technical Director, Gwen Raymond, added "What we bring to the table is not only world-class audio design but also the technical chops to bring it into the virtual worlds of games. Programmers who are both adept at writing clean, robust and efficient code, but who also understand and are passionate about audio and the role it plays in player immersion."

The team are already working on indie and AAA productions in their Brighton studio.
