“We’re always looking for ways to expand Soulframe’s story and world-building, and this update is a reflection of that,” said Sarah Asselin, Senior Community Manager. “Every new system introduced in Preludes 11 carries narrative weight: engaging with Hues and Bestiching deepens your bond with your Ancestor Verminia, collecting Totems strengthens your connection to the wilds of Midrath, and Bromius’ redemption arc invites players to share in his burdens and triumphs. We can make the same promise when it comes time to invite everyone to become a Founder. It will fundamentally be tied to the history of the Envoys and form a connection with Soulframe's early days in a way no one else will be able to."

Highlights from Soulframe Devstream 10 include:

  • Spend time with Verminia, the rat witch, in Preludes 11 to hear her history and remember the colours of the world. Once a master of brewing Hues, her ability to see colour was robbed upon her death, trapping her in a world of greys. Rank up with Verminia to discover more about her synesthesia, giving her the ability to taste and smell colours, and remember the vibrancy they once brought to her life through the new Hues dye and the Bestiching transmog systems for customizing armours.

  • The Waste Bear Fable now has a minor story addition at the end of its tale in Preludes 11. Once Bromius has been restored to his mantle of Arbearer, it is left up to the Envoy to encourage Bromius’ next steps toward redemption, all based around the starting Virtues of Courage, Spirit, and Grace. For more information on the additions made to the 11th update for Soulframe Preludes, please see the full patch notes here.

  • Digital Extremes will soon welcome players to become a Soulframe Founder, themed around the first Envoys: Galene, Pothia, and Josalfar. Joining the game and becoming a Founder invites players and several friends to instantly access Soulframe Preludes, alongside exclusive items and gear for those who wish to leave a permanent, lifetime mark on its world and development. More information around Soulframe’s Founders' invitations will be made available soon.

“We are so inspired by the creativity in our team’s work on The Waste Bear Fable,” said Geoff Crookes, Soulframe Creative Director. “At DE, we always strive to tell stories that connect on an emotional, and very human, level with our players. We really hope these narrative Fables show how committed we are to that mission, and illustrate how important our players' roles are in sharing their feedback with us. To drive these connections home and help foster a culture of player identity within Soulframe, we've also expanded character customization with Verminia by introducing crafting pallets and intend to keep creating variety in the future. We have some major updates for everyone to look forward to in our last two Devstreams of the year, and we hope everyone will consider joining us in Soulframe Preludes as we build something special together."

Highlights of Soulframe Preludes 11 Update include:

  • The Waste Bear Fable: Venture deep into a new dungeon environment in a cinematic narrative Fable full of corrupted Sproutfolk enemies in need of cleansing. Thwart the manipulating Wazzard of Wastes and redeem the polluted Omen Beast, Bromius, from sinister corruption. To access this Fable, gather enough Sap around the overworld and bring it to Verminia in the Nightfold.

  • New Dungeon – The Neath'uns: Descend into the Neath'uns, vast root-caves choked with corrupting ichor. Purge ichor seepage to set the waters running clean, raise living root bridges to forge a path, and push through pockets of corrupted Sproutfolk, puzzles, and spiders. Entrances to the Neath'uns become available after completing The Waste Bear Fable.

  • New Character Pact, Weapon Set, and Armour: Upon completion of The Waste Bear Fable, forge a soulbinding Pact with Bromius to unlock three new abilities. Send out rows of thorny branches with Wevetroot, channel the might of the Ursus with a Rump Thump ground pound, or sing a Song of Growth to increase armour strength for nearby allies. Envoys may also forge weapon and armour sets inspired by Bromius in the form of a claw-like cleaver, Marrow’s Bane, as well as fuzzy, full-body plated Arbearer armour.

  • New Sub-Bosses: Encounter menacing mini-bosses across Alca’s lands, ranging from the outcast Ode’n soldier, Discharged Nimrod, clad in haunting ancient armour, Thrice-Bound Impidh, web-filled brood-queen, Etheldred The Weaver, corrupted Sproutfolk commander, Kabocha, stalking hunter, Gruul Seeker Ruthos, mendicant caster from the bogs, Wraith of Wastes, and loyal mace-wielder, Sinecure-Errant Gawth.

  • Armour Customization, Hues and Bestiching: The Ancestor Verminia, the Rat Witch, brings forth new ways to customize the Envoy’s aesthetics. Collect new Moonsteel and Figments resources from across Alca to brew vivid Hues or Bestitch new styles, capable of recoloring or transforming an Envoy’s armour appearance.

  • New Equipment Stat Progression, Runes and Totems: Rescue friendly fauna in need to obtain their Totems and defend the lands of Alca against new sub-bosses to take their Runes as a part of the latest weapon progression system. Lend a helping hand to beavers, deer, ducks, hares, rats, and squirrels to be rewarded with their Totem, a passive stat upgrade around three types: Attack, Defense, or Utility. Banish brutal sub-bosses now roaming the world to receive a Rune, capable of activating an elemental buff depending on its type, like Everflame, Archstorm, or Alca’s Breath for the equipped weapon.

  • New Starting Armour: Equip one of three exclusive armour sets for each of the starting Factions: Alca's Children, Kith of Kings, and Silent Rose, based around each of their specialties – magicks, physical combat, and stealth.

  • Quality of Life Improvements:
    • Major loot table rebalancing across chests, enemies, and dungeons.
    • New VFX, UI, and auto-drop pickup systems.
    • Return of kicking, new dodge/block animations, and improved hit feedback.
