Canabalt’s creator Adam Atomic and Finji launch 8-bit game collection CorgiSpace

Players can discover a selection of PICO-8 games, short by design but with big ideas.

Grand Rapids, Michigan - Dec 10th: FINJI, the award-winning development studio and publisher of Night in The Woods, Chicory or Tunic and their Creative Director and Co-Founder Adam Saltsman (Canabalt, Overland) have today launched CorgiSpace, a collection of small and fun 8-bit games that have short legs on purpose.

Revealed during Day of the Devs, CorgiSpace is a collection of arcade games created in the PICO-8 game engine. Each game has simple, approachable controls and can be enjoyed again and again. It’s now  available for $4.99, £4.29 GB, €4.99 on Itch.io and Steam (PC and MAC).

CorgiSpace includes more than a dozen of small action, adventure, arcade, and puzzle games, which can be each thoroughly explored in under an hour, plus developer diaries about how each game was made. Some of the games can even save progress.

In CorgiSpace, players can experiment games like Kuiper Cargo - a run-based puzzle game where the right upgrades make all the difference as players deliver cargo and raise their guild rank. It also includes Cave of Cards - a mini rogue-like where players have to clear a cave full of killer mushrooms by setting off bombs and making new resources from poker hands.

Other inclusions are Mole Mole - a sokoban puzzle with a twist (the twist is bombs) and Dino Sort - a logic puzzle where every dinosaur has to be in just the right spot. That might be next to their favorite food (plants) or near their favorite food (dinosaurs). It also features Rat Dreams - a top-down souls-like with no walking, only dodge rolls, and many more.

To celebrate the launch of CorgiSpace, FINJI announced the start of a Game Jam named CorgiJam, for game development enthusiasts to create other small games in the same spirit as the game collection. The event will kick off December 10th and run until Jan 11th, wrapping up with a stream the week of Jan 19th where part of the Finji team and some to-be-confirmed guests will play and offer commentary on the newly created games live. Participants in CorgiJam can chat with each other and gain inspiration in the dedicated channel on the Finji Discord.

Finji fans can learn more about this new project on the dedicated website, get CorgiSpace on Steam or on Itch.io, and find more details about FINJI’s other projects like Usual June, here.
