Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia – August 13, 2025 — Malaysian indie game studio Weyrdworks is excited to announce that the Weyrdlets “Fishing & Friends” update is now live! First teased during the South East Asia Games Showcase, this highly anticipated update brings a brand new multiplayer experience, an expanded map, fresh gameplay features, and a collaboration with Malaysian animation studio Hide and Seeds.
What’s New in the Update
🗺️ New Map Area – Cozy Cove
The playground gets its first expansion! Cozy Cove is a brand new extension to the existing playground, designed as a peaceful beach area with sand, sea, a lighthouse, and a pier. Players can fish, take on small quests, or simply hang out with friends. Players can join each other’s lobbies or create their own private space to chill and explore together.
🐾 Third-Person Pet Mode
For the first time, players can play as their pet! Explore the playground and Cozy Cove in third-person view, chat with others players, or even toss water balloons at friends. It’s a brand new way to experience Weyrdlets, available exclusively in the Playground and Cozy Cove.
🎣 Fishing System
Players can now fish alone or with friends in the sea. Caught fish can be traded, eaten, or simply shown off! It’s a fun, relaxing new activity to enjoy together.
🗨️Text Chat in Cozy Cove
You can chat with your friends in Cozy Cove, making it easier to connect, plan, or just say hi while hanging out!
✨New NPC – Nessie
Nessie is our glamorous new merchant at Cozy Cove. She’s got amazing hair, a mysterious vibe, and exclusive items you won’t find anywhere else on the island. Players can trade fish with her, or just stop by for a chat!
🌱New NPC – The Saplings
Strange little saplings have popped up around Cozy Cove. They don’t say much, but they’re easter eggs for a game mode currently in development.
💃🏼Emote Wheel
Now that pets are playable, players can express themselves using a new emote wheel. More emotes are planned in future updates!
🎮Mini-Games & Small Quests
Scattered throughout the playground are small interactive events and quests. Players can join in and earn some special rewards!
🏆New Steam Achievements
New achievements have been added for players who love completing every challenge!
🌱 New Mini Pets: Biji & Kotak
We’re introducing two new MiniPets: Biji and Kotak. They’re original characters from a Malaysian animation studio Hide and Seeds! These adorable MiniPets are now adoptable in Weyrdlets from this DLC as part of a collaboration.
