THATGAMECOMPANY TO RELEASE ORIGINAL SOUNDTRACK FOR  ‘SKY: CHILDREN OF THE LIGHT’

Santa Monica, CA - July 31, 2020 - thatgamecompany studio today announced that it will release the highly-anticipated original game soundtrack to ‘Sky: Children of the Light’. The GRAMMY-nominated and BAFTA-winning studio has once again teamed up with composer Vincent Diamante, who previously scored the studio’s soundtrack for its groundbreaking release, ‘Flower’. In mid-July during the first anniversary of ‘Sky’, the team experienced a staggering leap of sign-ups as the game crossed over 35 Million downloads. The fan-favorite title has also taken home Apple’s 2019 “iPhone Game of the Year” and a 2020 Apple Design Award as well as picking up accolades from SXSW, Webby Awards, Game Developers Choice, Games For Change, Mobile Game Awards, TapTap, and International Mobile Game Awards. ‘Sky’ is a social adventure set above the clouds in a forgotten and desolate kingdom. With compassion at the heart of the game’s design, players must fly together in order to unravel its mysteries and spread light back across its lands and constellations. 
 

Diamante commented: “To work on Sky was to be inspired every day by our Creative Director, Jenova Chen, and the whole development team at thatgamecompany. It was entirely too easy to be moved to write music based on those initial big ideas: the beauty of flight, the wonder of the world, and the joy of companionship. Equally inspiring was watching players come to the game, even in its early days of development. The way they played the game, lived in the world of Sky, and contributed to the soundscape with singing and musical instruments really created excitement for what Sky could become, and helped inspire many of the game's climactic moments."

Diamante is an award-winning and nominated composer and audio designer (BAFTA, AIAS, G4TV) who has scored ‘Sky’, ‘Flower’ and ‘Cloud’ for thatgamecompany as well as ‘Skullgirls’, ‘Castlevania’, among others. With interactive music and sound being core to ‘Sky’, Diamante began scoring music since the beginning of the project’s six year development. The results can be heard in the 30-track first volume album that captures the game’s hopeful and heartwarming nature. The soundtrack was performed by the FAME’S Macedonian Symphonic Orchestra with a 47-piece ensemble, incorporating both traditional orchestral and ethnic wind instruments to create the musical score as well as sound effects throughout the game.
