August, 2022 - Unter der Leitung von CEO und Gründer Kristian Metzger und COO Daniel Ullrich, gibt der Cross-Plattform-Entwickler und Online-Games-Publisher Stratosphere Games den Abschluss einer neuen Investitionsrunde mit Riot Games, 1Up Ventures und Skycatcher bekannt. Zusätzlich haben die Berliner erfolgreich eine weitere Förderung im Rahmen der Computerspieleförderung des Bundes erhalten.
Die insgesamt über drei Millionen Euro fließen in den nächsten Schritt der internen Roadmap: die Entwicklung eines Coop-Looter-Shooters namens „Desolation“. Spielerinnen und Spieler kämpfen sich in dem Cross-Plattform-Game durch eine postapokalyptische Sci-Fi-Welt. Eine eigene Shooter-Mechanik soll dabei das Zusammenspiel zwischen den einzelnen Plattformen optimieren.

Mit seinem neuen Titel strebt das Unternehmen die Entwicklung einer umfassenden cross-platform-IP an, um zu einem führenden Entwickler und Publisher von Live-Games und -Welten zu werden. In einem ersten Schritt hat Stratosphere die Größe seiner Belegschaft auf 67 Personen erhöht und beschäftigt nun Mitarbeiter aus über 22 Ländern. Bis Ende 2023 sind bis zu 100 Beschäftigte geplant.

Im Herbst 2022 beginnt der lang erwartete Start dieser Transformation mit dem Launch von Homeworld Mobile und dem Early Access von Dawn of Ages. Ersterer Titel wird von Gearbox Interactive mit der Unterstützung von Stratosphere veröffentlicht, während Letzterer eine komplette Eigenveröffentlichung ist.
