New puzzle game lets players pray for help when they're stuck

The Godkiller - Chapter 1 releases a new demo at Steam Next Fest

Seattle, WA, October 1st 2021 – Seespace Labs is pleased to announce that its upcoming puzzle game The Godkiller – Chapter 1 will be participating in Steam’s October Next Fest. Players are now able to download a demo from the game’s Steam Store page of the first twelve levels, media-complete and refined through months of playtesting. The demo launches with an unusual new feature: stuck players will have the option to “Pray for Help” to get hints.

"I think walkthroughs are fine for most games, but totally wrong for solving puzzles”, explains Erik Hermansen, developer and designer of The Godkiller. “If you pray for help inside the game, you get just enough clues to get unstuck."

The Pray for Help function is integrated with an official The Godkiller wiki launched last week by Seespace Labs. Each puzzle’s wiki page features a series of hints ranging from little nudges to direct walkthroughs, so that players can get as much help as they need without spoiling the whole puzzle for themselves. When players pray for help, they are taken directly to the hints for the level they’re stuck on. This wiki will be gradually built up over the coming months with information on game mechanics, solving techniques, and more hints for the full game.

The Godkiller – Chapter 1 is a fresh new block-pusher puzzler from Hermansen, who previously created the cult classic DROD series of puzzle games. The player will explore an unusual afterlife, climbing upwards through 60 levels while contending with a full cast of lost souls and an absent-minded God. Puzzles might be solved by pushing letter-blocks to spell words to close bridges, by breaking the same words to open doors, by using blocks as obstacles to control their own movement, or simply by throwing yourself across the level to the exit. A full original soundtrack with musical numbers completes the package.

The Godkiller – Chapter 1 can be found on Steam, and its demo is available now by clicking on the “Request Access” button. The full game is set to be released on January 1st, 2022.
