METRO 2039, der lange erwartete nächste Teil der METRO-Saga, erscheint am 4. Februar 2027.
Im Rahmen des PlayStation State of Play wurde erstmals Konsolen-Gameplay gezeigt, welches exklusiv auf der PlayStation® 5 Pro in 4K bei 60 FPS mit Raytracing gecaptured wurde. Direkt zum Launch wird METRO 2039 einen Performance-Modus mit 4K, 60 FPS und Raytracing auf PlayStation® 5, PlayStation® 5 Pro und Xbox Series X™ bieten. Weitere Details zu den technischen Spezifikationen und Grafikmodi werden in den kommenden Monaten bekannt gegeben.

Der Trailer, der aus dem gleichen Content erstellt wurde, der auch auf der gamescom spielbar war, konzentriert sich auf unverfälschtes Gameplay, detaillierte Umgebungen, dynamische Kämpfe und die technologischen Fortschritte, die seit METRO Exodus aus dem Jahr 2019 an der 4A-Engine vorgenommen wurden. Das beeindruckende neue Gameplay von 4A Games erscheint nur wenige Tage, nachdem METRO 2039 bei den gamescom Awards in der Kategorie „Best Visuals“ ausgezeichnet wurde und im Vorfeld mehr Nominierungen erhielt als jeder andere Titel auf der Messe.
4A Games ist bekannt für seine technischen Fertigkeiten und war auf dem PC mit METRO Exodus und auf Konsolen mit der METRO Exodus Enhanced Edition einer der Pioniere im Bereich Raytracing. METRO Exodus ist übrigens ab sofort Teil des PlayStation Plus Spielekatalogs.
METRO 2039 kann ab sofort auf PlayStation, XBOX, Steam und im Epic Game Store auf die Wunschliste gesetzt werden, die Vorbestellungen werden noch dieses Jahr starten. Zudem können Spieler auch ihr Interesse an der Collector's Edition bekunden, die eine tragbare Replik des Spartaner-Helms enthält.
