Forum Mortuorum Announced: A Gladiator Sports-Management Sim Where Your Players Can Die

For immediate release - May 31st, 2023
Cambridge, MA: Just a few days ago, developer Vittoria Games announced Forum Mortuorum - a gladiator management sim - on Steam. You play as the owner of a Roman gladiator school, equipping and training your gladiators in a sports-management style game but where your players can and will die, permanently.

The ambitious roadmap includes:

  • Gladiator & team progression through perks and equipment upgrades balanced against long term progression of your school facilities
  • Extensive league play in arenas across the Mediterranean in which you'll fight not only humans and beasts, but mythical creatures as well
  • A narrative arc delivered upon meeting eclectic characters including a suspicious taxidermist, an inhuman alchemist, and an exotic zoologist

Remarkably, the entire game will be delivered by a single person. Vittoria Games consists of one developer, Nick Francisci. Nick works full-time as a software developer and produced the  prototype as seen on Steam in only six months. Still working a full-time job, Nick spends nights and weekends producing code, design, art, marketing, and the rest. Despite this, the art compares respectably to cult hits such as Battle Brothers, from which Forum Mortuorum borrows a 'bust-only' representation of its gladiators.

As planned, Forum Mortuorum will feature a demo in late 2023 and has targeted release in mid 2024, though Vittoria Games indicates this date may move to ensure the game launches fully polished and complete.

Vittoria Games is the nom-de-plume of Nick Francisci. Founded in 2022, its debut release - Forum Mortuorum - portends a specialization in management and strategy games. For more on their plans and prototypes, their website is at vittoriagames.com.
