FUTURLAB’S HIT GAME ‘POWERWASH SIMULATOR’ REACHES 3 MILLION PLAYERS AND APPOINTS INDUSTRY VETERAN TOM STONE TO BOARD

Less than two months on from PowerWash Simulator’s full launch, over 3 million players have picked up their virtual power washers to clean away their worries

Brighton, UK - 7 September 2022 - FuturLab’s surprise indie hit, PowerWash Simulator, which gained huge popularity during its Steam Early Access period at the height of lockdown, has topped 3 million players just two months after its full launch in July this year.

PowerWash Simulator is a relaxing single player or online co-op simulation game for all ages where players fire up their virtual power washers and blast away every speck of dirt from the patios, pavements, vehicles, and public parks featured across the levels. This cathartic game has gathered a huge following of people who want to relax and unwind with no threats, timers or antagonists - allowing them to immerse themselves in a soothing space where they can have fun, be creative and go at their own pace whilst feeling a satisfying sense of achievement.

James Marsden, Founder and Co-CEO at FuturLab said:
“Reaching 3 million players with our self soothing sim is an amazing milestone, and we have so many exciting things planned to expand the game, I can’t help but think this is just the beginning.”

Alongside this great success for the game, FuturLab is delighted to announce it has appointed industry veteran Tom Stone to the role of non-executive Chairman onto its board. Tom brings a wealth of experience after 30 years in the games industry, starting his journey with the team at EA helping build FIFA Soccer and working on the first Harry Potter game, before starting Giant Interactive Entertainment to create the LEGO Star Wars video game. He was co-creator of TT Games that went on to build the successful LEGO games franchise.

Tom Stone, Chairman at FuturLab said:  “When James and Kirsty pitched PowerWash Simulator to me, I knew this was a project I wanted to engage with. I love their creative energy and clear vision for this game and the future of the business. The Development and Marketing teams at Futurlab have done a wonderful job of executing on that vision which has made PowerWash Simulator the great success it is today. I’m thrilled to be working with FuturLab and the new and exciting projects in the pipeline.”

Co-CEO Kirsty Rigden added:
“We’re so excited and honoured to have Tom Stone join FuturLab as chairman. We first met Tom 10 years ago, when we were matched with him on a Nesta Mentorship scheme. It’s humbling to know that he’s believed in us and championed us from the side-lines all this time, so we are delighted to finally be able to bring him onboard in a more official capacity. Tom continues to encourage us to believe in ourselves and helps us to realise our vision. We’re very excited to see where this new official partnership takes FuturLab.”

As well as PowerWash Simulator, FuturLab’s portfolio includes the acclaimed arcade speedrunning series Velocity, Peaky Blinders: Mastermind, Mini-Mech Mayhem and Tiny Trax. Looking ahead, FuturLab has partnered with Thunderful to create an all-new sci-fi adventure; the stylish, high-intensity third-person combat game will serve as a spiritual successor to Velocity.
