Today, Free League Publishing announced Death of Songs, a new campaign for the award-winning tabletop roleplaying game Vaesen – Nordic Horror Roleplaying. The pre-order opening just in time for Halloween includes immediate PDF access for players eager to explore its supernatural mysteries ahead of the general release in Q1 of 2027.
Set in a mythical version of 19th-century northern Europe, Death of Songs begins in Upsala before taking investigators across the continent to uncover a conspiracy rooted in the history of the Society itself. Along the way, their actions could shape the fate of both humans and vaesen, the supernatural beings of Nordic folklore.
Written by Nils Hintze, lead writer of the original Vaesen – Nordic Horror Roleplaying core rulebook, the campaign continues the story begun in the introductory adventure The Dance of Dreams. It features illustrations by Johan Egerkrans and Anton Vitus, four new mysteries, and an extensive chapter dedicated to campaign play in Upsala.
Death of Songs Key Features:
- Four New Mysteries: Journey from Upsala across northern Europe to uncover a conspiracy rooted in the Society's past.
- A Continuing Story: Continue the story introduced in The Dance of Dreams, written by Vaesen core rulebook lead writer Nils Hintze.
- Expanded Campaign Play in Upsala: Explore an extensive chapter dedicated to campaign play in the Society's home city.

Vaesen – Nordic Horror Roleplaying
In dark forests, beyond the mountains, by black lakes in hidden groves. At your doorstep. In the shadows, something stirs. Strange beings. Twisted creatures, lurking at the edge of vision. Watching. Waiting. Unseen by most, but not by you. You see them for what they really are. Vaesen.
Based on the acclaimed art book by Johan Egerkrans, Vaesen – Nordic Horror Roleplaying has become a fan favorite worldwide and has won multiple awards, including three ENNIEs, since its initial release in 2020.
