São Paulo (Brazil), 29 May 2025 –– One of the biggest names in the global video game industry is coming to Brazil for an unforgettable encounter with fans. BGS has just announced the participation of Hideo Kojima in its 16th edition, scheduled for October 9–12 at Distrito Anhembi in São Paulo. Widely regarded as the greatest master of storytelling in video games, the renowned Japanese director, designer, writer, and producer returns to the largest gaming event in Latin America after eight years, bringing high expectations.
In addition to promoting his game DEATH STRANDING 2: ON THE BEACH – set to be released on June 26 and already seen as a potential Game of the Year – the special guest will engage in several activities with visitors on October 11th and 12th. These include Meet & Greet sessions, panels at BGS Talks, and serving as a judge for the BGS Cosplay competition.

Hideo Kojima will take the BGS Talks stage to share insights about his new game in an open conversation with the audience. In this session, the director will discuss the creative process behind DEATH STRANDING 2: ON THE BEACH, production challenges, and the themes that inspired the next chapter in the franchise.
During the BGS Meet & Greet – with a limited number of free tickets – fans will have a unique opportunity to take photos and get autographs from the legendary creator. At BGS Cosplay, as a guest judge, he will help evaluate the performances of cosplayers paying tribute to iconic video game characters – many of them created by Hideo Kojima himself.
The master of game creation
Hideo Kojima's career is marked by innovation, creative boldness, and cultural impact. As the creator of the Metal Gear series, launched in 1987, he became an icon of interactive storytelling and cinematic design in games.
Since 2015, leading his independent studio KOJIMA PRODUCTIONS, the Japanese director has continued his unique creative vision through the DEATH STRANDING series. The sequel, to be released in June, revisits a collapsed world where human connection is key to survival. The game brings back characters like Sam Porter Bridges (Norman Reedus), Fragile (Léa Seydoux), and Higgs (Troy Baker), and introduces new names like Elle Fanning and George Miller. A movie adaptation of the franchise is also in development.
In his first visit to Brazil in 2017, Hideo Kojima was honored with the BGS Lifetime Achievement Award, given to individuals who have made significant contributions to the history of video games. The award sealed a special connection with Brazilian fans – now rekindled with his return to the event.
Known for blending cinematic language, powerful soundtracks, and scientific, philosophical, and political themes, Hideo Kojima is a reference in the elevation of video games as art. BGS 2025 marks a new chapter in the event’s history, as it will occupy all five pavilions of Distrito Anhembi, a modern venue offering significant improvements to the experience of both exhibitors and attendees.
