Morrisville, NC, Tuesday, May 9, 2023 – NC-based video game developer, Zapper Games, has been chosen by global game publisher, Asmodee, to bring an all new video game adventure to market set in the world of the award-winning board game, Takenoko.
“The iconic world of Takenoko is recognized the world over,” said, Pierre Ortolan, SVP Interactive Business Development and Licensing, Asmodee. “Zapper Games’ creative vision and development expertise will allow fans of the board game and new players alike to enjoy the Takenoko experience.”
Many of us here at Zapper Games are longtime fans of this adorable board game. So much so that one of our co-founders used the pandas from the game for a birth announcement for his daughter!” said Mike Tata, Production Director and Co-Founder, Zapper Games. “We’re pleased to have the opportunity to combine the stylistic design of Takenoko with an all new video game experience.”
Originally released in 2011, Takenoko is a 2-4 player board game set in Imperial Japan. Players must grow more bamboo than the hungry pandas can eat in a fun game of tug of war.
Much like the original board game, the new title is slated to be in the wholesome genre and intended for all ages.
