LOUISVILLE, Colo. – The Kickstarter for Terra Invicta, the grand strategy alien invasion game by Pavonis Interactive, is entering its final 24 hours Wednesday after having raised more than $180,000 from 3,600 backers.

The campaign started with a goal of $20,000, which it reached within six hours of its Sept. 29 launch. It has since hit five stretch goals and will end at 3 p.m. MDT on Thursday, Oct. 29.

Terra Invicta is the first independently developed title developed by Pavonis, which was founded by the team behind the acclaimed Long War mods for the XCOM series.

The game is planned for release for PC in summer 2021. With its primary scenario set in the modern day, it simulates the geopolitics of an alien invasion of Earth and features space exploration and space warfare throughout the Solar System as humanity tries to mount a defense. Players will play one of several human factions that must contend with alien infiltrators and other human groups as they vie for control of the Earth.
Funds raised by the Kickstarter will supplement funding provided by its Dallas-based startup publisher, Hooded Horse, and several angel investors.

Pavonis was founded as Long War Studios in 2015 by the hobbyists who led the team that developed the Long War mod for 2012’s XCOM Enemy Unknown. The company was hired by 2K Games in 2015 to develop release-day mods for XCOM 2, and then an overhaul mod, Long War 2. Its work has been praised in multiple industry outlets, including IGN, PC Gamer, Wired, Kotaku and Rock, Paper, Shotgun.

“We’re thrilled to see the story we’re telling has captured our fans’ imaginations,” said John Lumpkin, Pavonis’ CEO and Terra Invicta’s creative director. “Their support will enable us to create an even richer and more strategically deep experience.”

Terra Invicta entered full production in 2017 and is now available for wishlisting on Steam.
