In case you missed it, Com2uS streamed the fifth annual Summoners War World Arena Championship (SWC2021) World Finals mobile esports competition on Friday, November 12 where the best Summoners War: Sky Arena players from around the world participated in competitive monster duels and PvP matches to claim their share of the $250,000 prize pool. With over 100 million players worldwide and one of the largest prize pools in mobile esports, the event garnered a record-breaking 1.62 million views and 255,000 concurrent viewers across YouTube and Twitch, as Summoners War fans around the world gathered virtually to watch the highly-anticipated event. Within 24 hours after the end of the broadcast, the video had reached 2.65 million views worldwide, surpassing the previous year's best records.
This year's Summoners War Championship attracted the largest number of applicants ever, and saw eight finalists compete in the finals event; BIGV and MADREAMDY from the Summoners War World Arena Championship (SWC2021) Americas Cup, PINKROID~ and ISMOO from the Europe Cup and DILIGENT, SECONDBABY, JACK- AND TARS players from the Asia-Pacific region. The seasoned fan-favorite player DILIGENT of Australia, became the world champion and claimed the $100,000 grand prize, while second runner up and European Cup Champion, PINKROID~ of the Netherlands, earned the $20,000 prize and third runner up BIGV from Canada earned the $10,000 prize.
The final match was a battle between DILIGENT and PINKROID~ in a tense ban-pick fight where after losing the first set, DILIGENT took three sets in a row with a calm and meticulous strategy to win the final title. DILIGENT is a traditional powerhouse player that went straight to the World Finals in 2019 following his first appearance at SWC, winning the championship for the first time in three years this year. After three years, he finally took the championship title and the $100,000 prize money home.
The event also featured the first-ever competitive matches in Summoners War’s newly released 2v2 PvP mode. Viewers had the opportunity to watch Summoners War fan-favorite Thompsin, 2020 World Champion Mr.Chung and other attendees battle in several exhibition matches showcasing the intense competitive potential for the iconic game’s new mode.
Additionally, at the event, Com2uS released a new cinematic trailer for Summoners War: Chronicles, the highly anticipated, open-world inspired, MMORPG-style experience, featuring iconic monsters, spells and environments from the Summoners War universe. The new trailer provides fans with a glimpse into the dynamic storyline of Chronicles’, showing the main Summoner characters, Orbia, Kina, and Cleaf’s unique powers in action with thrilling battle scenes, as they take on monsters, share adventures and build friendships. The game will feature a P2E (Play to Earn) format utilizing blockchain technology, allowing players to earn coveted in-game items through gameplay advancements. Summoners War: Chronicles will launch in 2022 on iOS, Android and PC devices.
