Salamanca, September 25th – Years after Scarf and collaborations on titles such as Tiny Garden and Sushi for Robots, composer Céler Gutiérrez reunites with Uprising Studios to craft a new project filled with local folklore and personal storytelling. “When you grow, you end up living far from home and missing many things that link you with your childhood and your home. With Toymaker: Threads of Joy, we wanted to pay tribute to all of that –sewing machines that were part of our identity, as well as legends and music from the streets,” explains the studio’s cofounder and composer.
Tales and legends are everywhere, however, we can only know those that are transmitted, and Salamanca’s stories are not very popular outside one of the most vibrant cities in Spain. Toymaker: Threads of Joy is inspired by stories, tradition and big names from Salamanca as the writer Miguel de Unamuno. All of this, wrapped in a one-of-a-kind musical atmosphere. Music plays a central role: composer Céler Gutiérrez blends traditional melodies with original compositions inspired by greats like Enrique Granados and Isaac Albéniz—masters of Spain’s Belle Époque and Romanticism. These are the ingredients for this story full of touches that will enchant those who know the city, and make others discover a new folk inspired by the legends of Salamanca’s Cave.
In Toymaker: Threads of Joy is a crafting game where players inherit their mother’s plush toy workshop after her mysterious disappearance. The game combines mechanics of a shop manager, and visual novel elements. Players will collect sewing patterns, design and stitch unique plushies, and sell them to a variety of customers that will unveil the real story. The immersive journey is designed in a beautifully hand-drawn Art Nouveau style, immersing players in a universe of mystery, magic and mythology.
The game will launch in 2026, and they aim for a Kickstarter campaign to improve the sewing game feel, some touches in the narrative and polish some art details to be perfect for the players. Soon, they target a playable demo.
The studio is composed of writers, artists, and designers who worked on titles such as Song of Nunu: A League of Legends Story and Tamagotchi Adventure Kingdom, and we recommend you to follow each stitch the team is making on their official channels: X, Instagram and Bluesky.
