THURSDAY JUNE 25th, 2026: Feral Interactive is pleased to reveal that Total War: ATTILA will relaunch for macOS on July 2nd. This entry in Creative Assembly’s long-standing strategy franchise returns afresh to macOS with native Apple Silicon support, improved performance and UI scaling.
Set in the Western Roman Empire at the beginning of the Migration Period, a time of vulnerability and violent upheaval; ATTILA’s map comprises Europe, North Africa and the Middle East. Players may command barbarian factions and fight to free their lands from Roman rule, or repel ferocious hordes at the head of an Imperial faction. Alternatively, those with the spirit of Attila can become the storm in the form of a Nomadic faction, invading from the east and laying waste to all in their path.
Each of ATTILA’s ten starting factions faces a unique challenge in a campaign that is as much about survival as strategy. Period-specific technologies and weaponry are used to brutal effect on the battlefield, while savage mechanics to raid, pillage, and raze entire regions reshape the campaign map itself. An unpredictable climate also poses a growing danger, decimating harvests and setting in motion the movement of entire peoples as the Dark Ages descend. Total War: ATTILA brings the Barbarian Invasions to life in all their military, political and geographic complexity.
Relaunching alongside the updated version of Total War: ATTILA for macOS are eight DLCs that bring the carnage to new factions and time periods. Two Campaign Packs move the clock towards the Middle Ages, where a patchwork of competing barbarian kingdoms has replaced the old monolithic empire. Five Culture Packs add fifteen new factions, each offering unique traits, objectives and units for use in the Grand Campaign. Completing the DLC lineup is the Blood & Burning pack, bringing with it a host of gruesome visual effects and animations.
Total War: ATTILA and its DLCs will return to sale for macOS on July 2nd via Steam. Previous owners of the game and DLCs on Steam will be able to upgrade to the new macOS version for free on release day. A separate Mac App Store release is planned for later in July.
Note: Total War: ATTILA will only be supported on Mac models released since November 2020 with an Apple M1 chip / Apple A18 Pro or better.
