Tiled Words, a free daily word puzzle, has won the Players' Choice Award from the 2025 Playlin Awards. The public voted from a field of 700 daily web games, placing Tiled Words ahead of runners-up Knotilus and Connections.
The independent judging panel also awarded Tiled Words the Runner-Up for Best Word Game. In addition, the game was a finalist for Best Visual Design and Best Classic Game Reimagined.
Released in October 2025 by Paul Hebert, Tiled Words puts a fresh spin on the crossword format. Players rotate and rearrange a set of lettered tiles to solve cryptic clues and rebuild a broken crossword. The unique gameplay blends the spatial logic of board games with themed wordplay and classic crossword mechanics. A new puzzle drops every day at midnight Pacific Time, free of charge and with no ads.
In just a few months since launch, the game has built a passionate daily following.“Ironically, I didn't set out to make a daily word game," explained game designer Paul Hebert. "I prototyped different game concepts and this one just happened to click.”
“I'm blown away and honored to win this award," added Hebert. "Thank you so much to everyone who plays Tiled Words. Your feedback and enthusiasm has made it the game it is today.”
Paul hand-crafts every puzzle with his wife Lisa. They carefully select themes and clues to keep the daily experience fresh and enjoyable for solvers of all skill levels.
