About A Weekend in Puzzleburg

A Weekend in Puzzleburg takes place from Friday to Sunday of a weekend vacation in the fictional resort town of Puzzleburg.  Throughout the game, you play as a woman on a relaxing weekend getaway, but each person you encounter has some need you can help them with, if you can first puzzle out what item they need and where to find that item.  Because you can take a break from your workaday life, but one should never take a break from being kind to others.

Based on your decisions, your own weekend vacation can play out in over 180,000 ways since when you’re not helping everyone around you, you can practice some self-care by partaking in fun vacation activities like taking a selfie of the town’s welcome sign, reading a book of your own choosing, or even getting your hair dyed.  No matter what you get up to, the game is filled with humorous dialog and there are no enemies and no combat whatsoever.  And if you ever get stuck on any puzzle, there’s a built-in hint system - the hotel concierge is always ready to point you in the right direction if you find yourself needing some assistance.

About the “This Town Ain’t Big Enough” free content update

The free content update adds new characters, new quests, and new items.  Highlights include:

  • An Old West-themed game of hide-and-seek with a little girl who goes by Billie the Kid (if you find her four times around town, she exclaims, "I knew this town wasn't big enough!")

  • The ability to determine the future of Puzzleburg itself by anointing which kid in town may one day grow up to be mayor.  A great, wholesome take on the Bethesda-style trope of breezing through town as a nobody and deciding which faction will rule the world

  • Your hotel room key will stop working at one point randomly.  Just a bit of flavor to capture the vacation slice-of-life.  Note that this can only ever happen a single time, and it’s resolved by a quick trip to the hotel front desk, so it’s a quick diversion that sells the vacation experience without getting in the way too much

Trailers for the game can be found on the company YouTube page, along with a developer playthrough.

A Weekend in Puzzleburg has full controller support or can be played with keyboard and mouse. Or if you want a real old school point-and-click adventure game feel, you can play with mouse-only.  The game also plays well on the Steam Deck - here is a company blog post with details on internal testing for the Steam Deck and advice for players on how to get the best out of the game on the Steam Deck.

For the sake of comparison, A Weekend in Puzzleburg is similar to the following games: A Short Hike, Wayward Strand, Eastshade, Earthbound, Animal Crossing, Stardew Valley, TOEM, Lake, and Nancy Drew.
