14 August, 2026. Independent game developer Yesterday's Sandwich today revealed an exclusive first look at their debut game The Watcher, a psychological thriller surveillance simulator built in Unreal Engine 5, coming to PC via Steam.
In The Watcher, players take on the role of an unknown observer stationed across the street from an apartment building in the strange city of Z, part of the totalitarian state of Nodia. Tasked with monitoring the building's residents, players must detect irregularities, decide what to report, and what to keep hidden. All while a creeping suspicion grows that they may not be the only one watching.
Players will set up and upgrade a personal surveillance room, capturing photos and video, intercepting and cleaning up audio recordings, and pinning evidence. Photographs, recordings, clippings, and dossiers to a growing evidence board to piece together the truth. Every decision about what to report, and how to report it, ripples out to affect the fates of the building's residents, while the game constantly asks players to question how much of what they see and hear can really be trusted.
