The First Ever #TurnBasedFest is Here! Turn-Based Game Dev Collective Brings Hundreds of Games Together for a 5-day Online Festival

Boston, USA & Worldwide | Dec 8, 2022

The first ever #TurnBasedFest goes live December 8th across Steam, Twitch, YouTube, Twitter, and Discord, with nearly 300 participating games featured in genres ranging from RPGs, sims, grand strategy, deckbuilders, 4X, roguelikes, puzzlers, city builders, and more…

Brought to life by the team behind the long-running #TurnBasedThursday game showcases on Twitter, #TurnBasedFest is their largest initiative yet, by indie game developers for indie game developers. The event aims to showcase the broad diversity of turn-based video games, modern and classic, all united by fun based on smart choices & clever planning instead of reflexes & reactions.

The event features a games showcase & steam sale, a full 5-day schedule of Twitch streams & YouTube premieres, giveaways, game announcements, and community fun on Discord & Twitter.

Games Showcase & Steam Sale

Discover hidden gems, find hits on sale, and check out all the upcoming games that might be your next favorite.

#TurnBasedFest’s full list of games is live now on the official website, and a Steam sale begins on December 8th at 1pm EST, running through December 12th 1pm EST. The Steam sale features several newly launched and announced games, hand-curated selections of genre champions and hidden gems, and daily special highlight sections such as “Fast-paced Turn-based”, “Multiplayer Games”, and “Excellent Early Access.”

Content Creator Showcase

The festival highlights nearly 50 excellent content creators on Twitch & YouTube who enjoy these kinds of games and regularly introduce their audience to new ones. If you’re always on the lookout for a great new YouTube channel to subscribe to, or want to find a streamer & community on Twitch that enjoys your kind of games, check out our schedule and custom-recorded creator introductions to see whose channels you want to tune into.

Gamers, represent!

There are many kinds of turn-based games — large-scale grand strategy and precise small-scale tactics; fast-paced pause-only-when-you-need-to and relaxing watch-and-savor; old school classics and clever new concepts. What unites them all is a playerbase that enjoys games where you can take your time when you want to, that loves the payoff of careful choices and a clever plan, that wants victories based on smarts, not speed.

Millions of gamers love these kinds of games, and #TurnBasedFest is bringing them together. All week the event has opportunities for you to share your stories, win new games, and have some fun with your fellow gamers.

You can join the Turn-Based Games Discord now for a great community with gaming news, deals, and fun. There are game giveaways going on now and throughout the festival!

About the #TurnBasedFest organizers / #TurnBasedThursday team

Originally conceived by Thomas Weiss, Founder of Hugging Dragons, #TurnBasedThursday started as a Twitter hashtag used for showcase threads in which indie game developers shared turn-based games they were working on.

Growing organically to a community-organized weekly thread (used by many content creators and publishers to discover promising games) today the #TurnBasedThursday organizing team comprises developers from Lost Pilgrims Studio, Terra Randoma, Trese Brother Games, Archrebel Tactics, and Unleash the Giraffe

This worldwide volunteer collaboration fosters a significant and ever-growing community for everyone who makes, plays, and loves turn-based video games.
