Supermarket Times is a surreal comedy point-and-click shopping simulator. It is the second project developed by UK indie studio Rabbit Hole Games. The entire game has been conceived by two artists who were kicked out of University Arts London because their drawings and ideas were too avant-garde (shite) to pass the course. Almost a decade later, they’ve put felt-tip to paper again.
Supermarket Times offers the player the chance to take on the exciting role of a normal person going shopping. Complete legendary supermarket tasks such as: buy alcohol for the teenagers, stamp on the rat, and hit a seagull with a rock. Browse a selection of surreal products including the renowned Fat Fat Fatty’s Fat Powder “Get Fat For a Laugh”, Marl-Bros Cigarettes “A Slippery Slope Indeed”, and the captivating Thick and Milky Mother’s Magazine. Meet and chat with a clientele of peculiar people for the first time (and for some hopefully the last time): Carol wants to make sure there is absolutely no processed meat in her son’s soup; James’ Dad bought him a skateboard with no wheels 15 years ago and he’s still sad about it; Sid wants you to know he is not a pervert. Shop, chat, and explore the mysterious retail complex. Can you discover the super-secret of the supermarket?
Supermarket Times is currently in the final stages of development. It will be released via Steam on the 14th of February. The game is available to wishlist here. A pre-release press copy of the game is available on request.
