Roguelike deckbuilder Alchemice announces demo delay, new private playtest on Steam, and major GDC 2026 recognition.

Madrid, Spain. March 3, 2026 | Spanish developer Red Mountain Games recently announced an updated roadmap for AlcheMice’s upcoming demo, along with exciting news surrounding its participation and recognition at Game Developers Conference (GDC 2026).

After Slay the Spire II Early Access was announced to launch on March 5th, the Spanish team had no choice but to change its demo launch to sometime during April, as they stated in a Steam post. As fans of the genre, the team wants to ensure the demo has the space and visibility it deserves, and to give players the best possible moment to discover the game.

In the meantime, players won’t have to wait long to get their hands on AlcheMice. A new private playtest is set to launch on March 12th via Steam. The goal of this playtest is not only to gather data and polish any found errors, but to actively involve the community by giving selected participants early access to the game, helping shape its build for the public demo with thoughtful and detailed feedback. Additional waves might potentially open based on testing needs.

In parallel with development milestones, the studio will attend the Game Developers Conference (GDC) thanks to a scholarship granted by Xsolla. The scholarship supports indie and mid-tier developers who face financial limitations, preventing them from attending international events such as GDC. For the Red Mountain team, this represents a major milestone in the project’s growth and visibility.

During the conference, AlcheMice has been selected as one of ten games invited to pitch its project in a dedicated session on March 11th at the Festival Hall Theater. This achievement will provide the team with the opportunity to pitch the game directly to publishers, platform representatives, investors, and more.

In addition, the game has been named a GDC 2026 Best In Play Winner, chosen among a select group of featured titles at the event. The Best In Play recognition highlights standout projects for excellence in design, execution, and audience appeal, further validating the team’s creative vision and development progress.

Beyond GDC, the team will also be attending Play Córdoba, continuing to build momentum. The studio has also confirmed participation in several other Spanish industry events throughout the year, with official announcements coming soon.

ABOUT ALCHEMICE

AlcheMice is a tactical roguelike deckbuilder (like Mewgenics meets Slay the Spire) where every decision matters, every card shapes your fate, and every run tells a different story. You will play as Tycoh, a young alchemist apprentice cursed by the wicked Gusparda, a witch who controls time through her cursed tarot cards. With her dubious gift, you will run through countless dungeons stretching across the streets of Gran-Adah and the palaces of the Alhambra, seeking the legendary Philosopher's Stone, expecting intense battles and choices that will impact your future.

KEY FEATURES

🐭 Survive a three-day-and-night cycle to complete your search for the Philosopher’s Stone, and get the recipe to save Tycoh’s family. Time resets at the first light of the fourth day, but your deck and some secrets stay with you.

🐭 Build the ultimate tarot deck with hundreds of cards and combine offensive, defensive, tactical, and alchemical effects to create powerful synergies.

🐭 Create special cards or attribute modifiers to counter enemies that evolve with time. Find ingredients throughout the city and learn new recipes as you progress in the game, or try to discover them through experimentation!

🐭 Deploy your best tactics on multi-level grid-based 3D dungeons. Terrain is more than just scenery, it’s part of the fight! Take advantage of the space and its elements to protect yourself and destroy your enemies in the most creative ways.

🐭 Fall in love with the hustle and bustle of 16th-century Granada through the game’s unique visual style, handcrafted by José Leandro Antequera, and its amazing soundtrack.

🐭 Unveil the mystical side of Gran-Adah through esoteric engravings, occult codices, and alchemical myths, but also its crumbling castles and haunted markets. This place is a hive of knowledge and legends, and sometimes they hide fragments of truth. Knowledge is power... and it's at your fingertips, if you dare to take it!
